Lacey Long Sleeves

Well, one trend I've noticed this year is lacey long sleeves.  Perfect for the winter season, yet still flirting with the more stylish side.  This top is one of my favorites from Christmas, leave it to my 83 year old Grammy to pick out something so cute.  Not only is it a lace material, but it has a slight peplum styled waist.  To top it off, turn around and check out the full zipper back - I love this detail!  Since the top is really the focus, I wore black ponte pants for bottoms.  These happen to be a TJ Maxx find from last year.

Do you like this top?  I was in Macy's this weekend and saw it still hanging on the rack - look for Petticoat Alley.

I kept this look sleek with keeping my accessories simple.  I chose a long silver necklace with a studded key pendent by LC Lauren Conrad (Kohl's) and finished the outfit with my new Betsey Johnson white and rose gold chunky watch.

Your Staple Black Skirt

Today's look was business casual focused.  The main item is my staple black skirt.  Every girl/lady 20+ needs to have a black pencil skirt in their closet. This one is a Banana Republic find and is great because of the detail.  It has pleats and pockets in the front with a belted waist - giving it some additional style.  These skirts are perfect for all weather, wear it in the summer with sandals and throw it on in the fall/winter with tights and boots.

Paired with the skirt, I chose a slate blue button up from Ann Taylor Loft.  Normally I leave it untucked with dress pants or jeans but I dressed it up today and tucked it into the skirt.  Tucking it in gives the outfit a clean look, exposing the detail of the skirt.  Cuffing the sleeves also softens the look.  Such simple apparel calls for some jewelry so I went with a new piece from Brighton.  A thin long necklace would also work, but I chose something shorter and a bit heavier.  Don't you like it?  It was a birthday present from Mom :) xo.  I'm a summer girl so I like to hold onto summer till the very end.  Seeing as its still hot and humid, I chose a pair of basic black sandals that had black rhinestones on the straps.

Tip: Versatile pieces are going to make your closet go a long way!

My FAVORITE summer color!

I love wearing white, but I really LOVE wearing teal (also known as aqua maybe? :)) - so what better than to pair them together!  The colors in this outfit really complimented each other, as the teal was subtle yet still bright for a contrast.  This shirt is perfect for summer, the bright color, detail, and light material, I think it has a delicate look.  I knew white pants would pair well color wise but I chose the skinny jeans because of the cinched waist and flowy bottom of the shirt.  You wouldn't want to wear a bottom that was wide leg, it would not accent the design and cut of the shirt.
I kept the jewelry light with my favorite necklace - silver initial - A - from Ross Simons, simple piece but always works!  The watch is where I added some style - a Curli Q Wrap Watch from Speidel!  My boyfriend just so happens to work there so get to check out the new designs - pretty cool isn't it?? I love how it wraps around your wrist!

Aside from the rhinestone studded watch, I went with some flare on the shoes too.  They are a neutral color so they go with a lot but the flower puff on the side is a really cute detail!  You should get a pair - $12.99 at Marshalls - can't go wrong!

Tip: Don't be afraid to wear white - especially with a splash of teal!

PS. Besides the accessories - my whole look is Marshalls :)

Summer White and a Pop of Coral

This look was one of my favorites of the summer so far!  You can't go wrong with white pants in the summer months, almost any top will look great!  For this outfit I wore skinny white jeans - almost like a legging - and paired a bright coral/peachy sleeveless top.  My favorite detail of this shirt is the sheer shoulders, I think it gives great contrast to the rest of the fabric.  Since this outfit is pretty bright on its own, I kept the shoes toned down for the office with a pair of flat sandals.  Although flat and a beige color, these sandals have a really cute cutout look!  To snaz it up a bit for going out later that night I simply added a pair of wedges for some height and style.  The color just so happened to match perfectly :)

I kept the jewelry simple with my go to silver necklace and this neat braided bracelet.  More to come on where I found it later :)

Where did my look come from?  My entire outfit (both shoes) came from my favorite store - what can I say, I am a Marshalls girl!

Black and White with a Touch of Silver

I've had this shirt hanging in my closet for a while, but today I finally took the tags off.  I actually think it was around January when I bought it, I knew the material was summer appropriate. It was something I picked up from Ann Taylor Loft off the sale wall, perfect shirt for work.  To be honest, when I first saw it on the hanger, I didn't think much of it.  It sounds odd, but sometimes the "ugly" well what appears to be at first glance, looks great and is an awesome find!

I've been waiting to wear it with white pants and a little tan.  What really sold me was the detail ruffled front and also the thin silver thread.  Although plain, paired with bottoms that gave contrast and a silver necklace, it all came together.  These pants are from Gap, something I picked up as a basic for the office.  White dress pants are a must for the summer!

You've seen this necklace before, a thin silver strand that gives just the right touch.  To add some style to the look a wore a black floral headband.  Keeping the clothes basic allowed me to add snaz with a hair accessory.

Tip: Pair black and white together for a classic look

Bright BLUE Dress

With beautiful weather for another day a dress was definitely on the list!  Today I pulled out a recent find from Marshalls, this simple but detailed bright BLUE dress.  I normally don't choose a blue like this but I loved it when I tried it on.  For a necklace I chose my thin shiny silver piece.  It went really well with the solid blue - stood out perfectly!  For shoes I went with my favorite flats from Steve Madden, simple black with some shine.  I swear heels and wedges can be more comfortable than flats.  Flats always eat my heels!

Don't you love the ruffles!

Tip: Don't be afraid to add some color to your wardrobe, especially with this beautiful weather!

You've seen this shirt before but I wanted to show you what it looks like on!  Perfect after work T for hanging out.  This was a one of my recent finds from the World of Dance show, its by Custom Junky - really cool stuff, check it out www.customjunky.com

Gray tones and a tulip

Since its been so cold the last couple of days I decided to pull the corduroys back out - not too happy about it.  The first thing I chose to wear was this tulip colored ruffle button down, well pull-over in this case.  Like I said the other day, when I'm layering a sweater or some type of blazer I like to add some width to the look so ruffles do the trick.  I picked this shirt up at Ann Taylor Loft on the sale wall - pretty sure it was something like $9.99.  It was something I saw and knew I could get a lot of use out of it.  Over the shirt, I wore one of my favorite sweaters, I love the large collar and flaps down the front.  This piece is made by Inc. - a Macy's brand. Sticking with the gray, I went with my gray skinny corduroys and trusty black leather slouch boots.  For some shine I wore a silver necklace that has some pearls and diamonds.  Its nothing too chunky but definitely carries some weight.

Tip: Pick a colored shirt and go with plain colors around it.  When I look at my outfit, I see a gray palette with a touch of purple, I don't know why but I think of a tulip :)

Looking forward to the weekend, its almost here!

Another beautiful day!

I can really get used to this weather for March, what a great start to the first day of spring!  Did you see the forecast for the weekend - at least in little RI, have to specify now that our blog readers have expanded to Canada!! - rainy and 50's, guess you have to enjoy it now!  I had to take an unexpected trip to the dentist this afternoon, about an hour drive but I can't complain.  I had the sunroof wide open and beautiful sunny skies beating down!

So onto the outfit of the day.  I chose something a little casual but dressed it up with boots and a necklace.  You'll find that you can get a lot more out of your closet if you change it up with accessories.  I love this dress because its simple and practical.  It's color scheme is gray, and has an accent of black and white on the sides.  I love dresses that have pockets, for both the style and being able to throw my cell phone or license in (yes, I get carded everywhere) when I'm out.  Besides the dress I wore black leggings and still threw on my black slouch boots (even though its pushing 70 degrees).  With such a plain top I wanted a necklace that carried some weight.  You'll see I chose a silver long necklace that has both pearls and diamonds on it.  I LOVE this piece.  I bought it from my co-worker last year, she sells some pretty cool pieces!  It was well worth it - I wear it all the time!

We're over the winter hump, spring has finally arrived!

Looks from the past 2 days

I've been a little busy lately and just got home from babysitting (2 little muchkins), but I wanted to share what I've been wearing the past 2 days.  Too bad if you missed it, but the weather was outstanding in New England yesterday, today wasn't too bad either.  My look yesterday was a satin paint splattered dress, from a purple palette and a splash of orange.  To make it more work appropriate, I covered it with a longer black sweater, sheer black tights and although it hit 70 degrees in some places, it's still March so I wore a pair of black leather slouch boots.  I didn't want to take away from the dress, so I wore a small silver necklace for some shine.

Today was a pretty plain day for me.  Simple heather gray dress pants and a coral 3/4 sleeve sweater.  The back of the sweater is cute, has a zipper down the middle.  To spruce this look up a bit, I went with a crystal and gold necklace and my classic chunky gold watch and bangles.  This chandelier style necklace was actually an American Eagle find - awesome jewelry sales!

I can't believe we're almost half way through March - where does time go!
