Splattered Skirt

It might have been a little chilly for my look today but I went with it anyway! Out of all the clothes I own, this skirt is probably one of my favorites! I love the design, splattered paint? It also reminds me of those fireworks that look like gold confetti falling from the sky - my favorite ones :)! The bronze buttons down the front give a little more detail and I also love the black elastic waist for contrast. This skirt came from my secret gem at the Jersey Shore... Lucky LadyIts located on the same boardwalk you see Pauly D and the Jersey Shore crew strollin' on. If you ever make a trip that way, its a MUST to stop in. When (not if, but when!) I open a store, I want it to look just like Lucky Lady. I love everything about it, from the clothes to the decorations! I'll be heading there soon for my annual summer shore vacation!

Back to the look for today... because I wanted the skirt to be the focus, I went with a plain tan T and a simple black sweater.  Sticking with the bronze on the buttons, I wore my gold jewelry - chunky watch and bracelets, and my go to layered necklace.

These shoes could not have matched better!  They're finally getting comfortable!

Goal: a dress for less than $20

Today's lunch break had a mission.  Find a dress for less than $20 in a hour.  This weekend I'm attending a Fundraiser for work and needed something black and white to wear.  Of course I could try and find something in my closet but if I found something with the right price and cute enough, a new dress would be in my future!

Well all I have to say is it was a success!  I left work at lunch and headed to the mall.  I knew I didn't have a lot of time so I headed straight to Forever 21.  I wasn't having much luck looking through the racks but then I found THE one, stuffed in there!  I quickly tried it on and decided it was perfect!  I love the ruffled chest and fitted waist.  The sheer material on the shoulders is also really cute.  After I found the dress I headed to the jewelry.  With the heavy ruffles I decided to go with a really simple necklace and statement earrings.  I thought this went perfectly, the little rhinestones are just enough on the gold!

Mission: Find a dress for less than $20 - Success! $19.80.  Of course you add in the jewelry and it puts me a little over but I'm still under $30 for the whole look!  Shoes?  I'm wearing black HIGH heels from my closet :)

Layered beaded necklace finishes the look!

Day two of the week and I went with another plain shirt and added a layered necklace for some detail. Think of the plain shirt as a blank canvas and now you have to add something to make it a piece of art. Color, chunky, or statement necklaces are perfect to finish the look!

My mom gave me this piece (she has great taste!) it's a made by BCBG. I love the detail with the flower petals - notice they're hearts :)

I picked up this shirt at Forever 21! I love this store when I find stuff but it usually only comes after trying on 20 things and digging in the racks. The chest pockets and cinched waist are my favorite details. Perfect for the office and can be dressed down too!  Never go in there when its a mob scene, pick the off hours or weekdays so you can take your time!

Like I said yesterday, add a statement necklaces to your jewelry box!

Layered necklace from embroidery thread

I'm back!  What a change from last weeks weather, I'd like the sunny and beautiful days back please!  I woke up this morning and wanted to wear something cozy but obviously had to be professional for the office.  I ended up choosing this basic cotton gray sweater.  I picked it up at Ann Taylor Loft and love how light weight it is.  While its a pretty simple design, I really like the satin strip on the back over the shoulders - just enough to make it a little different!

On to the best part of my look today - the Necklace!  This was a Jersey Shore find, yes the same one you'll find snooky at :)  If you're ever that way, make sure to stop at the B&B Department Store - great finds at great prices!  I saw this necklace and had to have it, simple but so different!  You could probably make it yourself, just embroidery thread and silver o rings.  I knew I would never sit down and do it and I think it was around $9.99.

Tip:  Add a funky/different necklace to something basic to finish the look.  It also allows the piece to be the focus point.

Casual blues and grays

Today I went with blues and grays.  I love this blue button up, the two chest pockets are my favorite details.  This was an Ann Taylor Loft find - of course on the sale wall!  To add some kick to it, I wore one of my favorite silver necklaces, its on the chunkier side but goes well because the shirt is so plain.  For bottoms I went with a pair of skinny gray pants and cute flats!  This outfit was on the plain side, but all worked well together!

Teal with a splash of purple!

Today was a teal day, with a splash of purple!  I love this dress, best part is I picked it up off the sale wall at Ann Taylor Loft!  Its just a simple dress with a synched waist, but add some accessories and its perfect!  To finish the look I added a wide brown belt and a shiny layered necklace.  With it being sleeveless, I added a thin sweater - everyone should have these types of sweaters in their closet!
My look is a mix of several stores - dress for The Loft, belt from Nordstrom, Necklace from Domain and sweater from TJ Maxx.  When you're out shopping, don't be afraid to pickup different pieces... it all comes together when you have different options in the closet!

Bright BLUE Dress

With beautiful weather for another day a dress was definitely on the list!  Today I pulled out a recent find from Marshalls, this simple but detailed bright BLUE dress.  I normally don't choose a blue like this but I loved it when I tried it on.  For a necklace I chose my thin shiny silver piece.  It went really well with the solid blue - stood out perfectly!  For shoes I went with my favorite flats from Steve Madden, simple black with some shine.  I swear heels and wedges can be more comfortable than flats.  Flats always eat my heels!

Don't you love the ruffles!

Tip: Don't be afraid to add some color to your wardrobe, especially with this beautiful weather!

You've seen this shirt before but I wanted to show you what it looks like on!  Perfect after work T for hanging out.  This was a one of my recent finds from the World of Dance show, its by Custom Junky - really cool stuff, check it out www.customjunky.com

A dress for the warm weather!

This was one of my finds from GAP last summer, I LOVE this dress!  Its just a simple cotton dress, but the satin detail does the trick.  The satin collar gives it just the right amount of dressiness for the office, the belt is the finishing touch!  Since its only April I added a short sleeve sweater over it.  My go to chunky gold watch and bangles - Alex and Ani <3 - went perfectly.

Time for summer!

Cuffed blazer and bold floral

I'm in love with my new blazer - read below to find out where I got it! - the subtle pin stripe and cuffed sleeves give it some style. I paired it with a bold floral shirt underneath, perfect for giving this look a little pop!  I love the fit of this shirt, scoop neck and fitted at the top and draped and flowy at the bottom. I added a long gold layered necklace and my everyday chunky gold watch.

For the bottom I chose gray straight leg corduroys and a new pair of cute Tahari flats. They were a $25 find at Marshalls!  I chose the fitted pants because the shirt is a little long and less fitted.

Tomorrow's weather looks amazing! I saw 87 degrees in the forecast for RI!

Ruffles for work and play

Today I chose one of my favorite ruffle tank topics.  The color is really simple tan, but has really get detail with the satin ruffles.  I personally love the satin shoulder strap, perfect touch for more detail.  I wore my simple A necklace, as I wanted the shirt to be the attention.  This is perfect example of a work and play shirt.  I threw on a short sleeve black sweater to make it appropriate for the office.  Out to dinner and with friends?  Take off the sweater and switch out the black work dress pants!  You can probably guess, but the shirt is Marshalls.

Tip: Add some detailed tanks to your closet that are versatile for the office and play.

Found 2 new labels in LA - 1 for the guys!

After delays and lost luggage I'm back on the east coast - I do have to say, I LOVED the west coast - Cali is catchy!  On Saturday, I went to a really cool event - World of Dance LA 2012 (a world I had no clue about).  Not only was there amazing dance talent but there were aspiring designers and vendors that I fell in love with!

Here are 2 of my favorites!
I have an obsession with white t's and when I saw the one below I had to get it!  Super cute white t with a oversized printed bow and shooting area.  She had other great designs and really neat jewelry.  Take a second and check out her stuff!
This designer took history and added a twist for his style.  They're style is for free thinkers and the conscious mind. Not only did I dig his designs, but my boyfriend loved his looks.  YES - this is my first Jezzyboy recommendation so check it out, I promise its worth it!

Added this one to Chris' closet - sick!

Before I go for the night, I do want to give credit to the World of Dance crew - I had not a clue what World of Dance was before attending and by the end of the event I was totally impressed and future fan and follower for sure!

When you lose your luggage...
When the airline loses your luggage you need a simple hairdo that does the trick!  Check out my look below... Brushed my hair out quick, deep side part and then just start twisting from the top.  As you twist down the side of your head keep adding a little more hair.  Use a few bobby pins to secure behind the ear and then finish with a ballerina bun.  Perfect!

Splash of color with a necklace - from my favorite gem in Providence!

Santa Monica, Malibu, and Fashion Finds in Sherman Oaks

Yesterday we took in Santa Monica and Malibu's sights - all I have to say is WOW!

If you're ever in the Malibu area, Point Dume is a must see!  Gorgeous beach, but thats not even the best part, climb up the side of the cliffs and witness the pacific coast at its best!  See for yourself...

While we waited for the sunset we relaxed at Neptune Net in Malibu and then headed to the shore - what a picture!

Fashion Find of the day!  A rolled sleeve blazer for only $30, regular $98.00 - my sister and I both had to get one!
Here it is on the GAP website, but I suggest hitting a store because its still $80 online, weird!

Robin Egg Blue - LA

Writing from Los Angeles, California tonight!  Sorry I didn't get a post in yesterday, after traveling from coast to coast it just wasn't happening.  Before my boyfriend gets here tomorrow, my sister and I wanted to get our shopping out of the way :).  With the warm weather here, its time for her Uggs to go away and cute sandals and shoes to come out!  We talked about where we wanted to go over lunch, of course Marshalls was in the picture and then her go-to, GAP.  We did't have great luck in GAP (FULL of bright colors though!) but weccrushed the shoes in Marshalls.  Take a peak below at what we found!  3 pairs, all very different, all under $30!

  • Tommy Hilfiger - Sandals
  • Libby. Edelman - Leopard flats
  • White Mountain - Gold boat shoes

LOVE these

While my sister was in class, I decided to pamper myself and get a mani/pedi - which I don't normally do. I haven't really used Yelp! before, but worked like a charm today.  It brought me to an awesome place - really cute inside, clean, and a great deals!  While I was waiting, I met some really nice people too, new friends!  I went a little bolder than normal on my toes - I'd call it robin egg blue! :)
I saw the color in a magazine on the plane ride here and loved it!

I haven't even mentioned our amazing lunch - Porto's Bakery & Cafe in Burbank.  If you're ever in this area, make sure its on your list.  Its FULL of mouth watering food!  Check out the pictures below...
