Summer Ruffles

My mom gave me this dress for Christmas and I haven't worn it yet... well until today!  Today was a business casual day at work and with the steamy weather a dress was very appropriate.

I think this maroon dress has a lot of style with the ruffles from the shoulders to the waist and also with the cute waist tie.  Where is it from? Gap, believe it or not - I don't think it looks like their typical style.

To go with the necklace I chose some gold pieces, the obvious watch and then one of my new gold necklaces.  If you missed last nights post, I'm pretty sure I threw out my favorite gold necklace so I needed some replacements.  This one was also on the clearance wall at Kohl's - designed by Lauren Conrad.  I love the bows - so cute!  Check out last nights post to see the other replacement necklace :)

Cute summer wear!

The humidity is killing me... its a must to go with a dress or skirt in this weather.  Today I went with one of my favorites, a ruffle layered skirt from Ann Taylor Loft.  I've worn it in the past but this time I paired light colors for more of a summer look.  Wanting the skirt to be the focus, I wore a simple heather gray T (Marshalls). I like to wear fitted plain t's with skirts, easy to tuck in and doesn't get all bunched in the waist.

My accent color for the look was gold.  I wore my chunky gold watch (Speidel), gold ruffle sandals (Madden Girl), gold wire headband (the LOFT) and lastly, my new find - long gold layered necklace! I love this new piece, well first I must explain... I'm pretty sure I accidentally threw out my favorite layered gold necklace, you'll see it in posts below.  It was simple with two strands, and had small knots on each layer - I LOVED it!  I'm still pretty devastated about it but in the mean time I had to try and find a replacement.

What do you think?  I think its pretty cute!  I like the layered strands and think the flower and diamond piece are great details!  Guess where its from... believe it or not I was in Kohl's this weekend with my mom and noticed it on the clearance rack... thanks Lauren Conrad :)

Tip: Keep the colors light to stay cool

Gold and Black for 60th Post!

Today was a simple day, yet I still wanted something a little business looking.  Flipping through the closet, I chose this sleeveless black shirt that has chest pockets, button shoulder ties, and a perfect slit down the front.  The other subtle detail is the cut of the bottom, falling lower in the back and the front. Its pretty plain but I love the look and style of this shirt!  The material is polyester so it keeps its shape all day, almost feels and looks like a rayon fabric (Marshalls). To jazz it up a little I went with a long gold necklace, chunky watch and some Alex and Ani bangles.  I chose a pair of dark bootcut jeans that went nicely with the black top and for shoes I wore simple black sandals with satin and gold detail. It all tied together, black and gold were my colors of the day.

Tip: Keep it sleek and clean.

Crochet details gave the look!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to wear today so as I flipped through my closet I found this cute top.  Navy blue with a crochet detail around the edges and neck.  The winged sleeves and elastic waist give the shirt a really cute style (TJ Maxx).  To accent the cream crochet I wore off white jeans (GAP) and simple sandals.  I'm not sure if you'd call it nautical but I thought gold jewelry went well!  Besides the shirt having crochet detail, I kept the rest pretty simple.  Just my chunky gold (Speidel) watch and a simple diamond necklace (Forever 21).

Key: Let the shirt be the focus.

Braided Chunky Necklace!

So cool its the focus of my next post!  What do you think?? I'm in love with my newest jewelry purchase!  This chunky blue, purple, green, and brown braided necklace just couldn't be left hanging on the wall at Frills of EG.  If you haven't been there yet, make sure to add it to your list of places to check out!  She always has really cute clothes, accessories and jewelry... awesome fashion finds!

I'm going to pair this necklace with a plain T - it really should be the focal point of the outfit so wearing something that doesn't compete is best!  Since the colors are so bright and bold I'm going with a white T to make it stand out.  I also think a shirt thats a color of one of the beads would work, and even tone it down a little... but why would you want to do that?? :)

White, Tiered, and Cutouts

I haven't worn it yet, but when the weather is a little sunnier I'll be pulling this shirt out.  First, I LOVE white clothes, especially in the summer.  Second, the tiered layers are perfect for the shape.  Third, I LOVE the cutout neck.  The detail on this shirt is amazing.  Where'd I find it?  Marshalls... and for $16.99!  Its not fitted on the bottom so a skinny pant would be really cute, I'd even go with a colored bottom for a pop.  Gap has a really good selection of colored pants!

Do you like it??

Watercolors and Living Water

I think I've decided that dresses are just much more comfortable than pants. Again it rained, so I did not want to deal with bottoms of wet pants - out came the boots (Steve Madden)!

For the dress I chose a watercolor gray above the knee. I love the teals, pinks, and purples! This was of course a TJ Maxx find! I added a gold waist belt and a layered gold necklace for some shine!

For the wrist, I went with my go to watch and Alex and Ani bangles. On my way home I stopped and added a new bangle to my collection. I've been thinking about it since I watched a video about it - Living Water. I love the color and teardrop shape but the best part is your helping a great cause!

T-shirt with some style!

Today was another dreary day so it was time to pull the boots back out.  In rainy weather, I like to wear skirts and boots so I don't have to deal with wet pants that never dry.  Today I went with a a t-shirt I got at Ann Taylor Loft, white with lace and rhinestones around the collar.  Its not pictured, but it also has a black ribbon tie around the neck.  With this top I wore a black pencil skirt with a belted waist (Banana Republic).  I wore my go to black leather slouch boots but added gray knee high socks.

Tip: Add a twist - knee high socks give the boots a different look.

Simple Black Dress Does the Trick!

I woke up this morning and knew I wanted to wear a dress, something simple so accessories would have to make it work.  The winner ended up being a black thin sweater dress that falls above the knee.  Its really simple, the sleeves slightly balloon and it has buttoned sleeves on the arms.  The chest is also cute with ribbing and large button closure.  If you've read my earlier posts I'm sure you can guess but this was a Marshalls find, I'm sure at a good price!

To jazz it up a little I added a faint silver scarf and a tan and silver studded belt (GAP).  I wanted to keep the look simple so I went with Jessica Simpson black ballet flats.  For some extra shine, I wore my simple silver necklace from Domain.  To be honest, I was almost out the door and knew my look needed something else, thats when I ran back up to my room and added the scarf! :)

Tip: Add a scarf to finish your look!

Sweatshirt Blazer - you need one!

Its been pretty drab weather out there so I've been pulling the boots back out and wearing comfortable clothes.  Today I went with one of my favorite blazers, its a gray sweatshirt blazer by Hurley.  Super cute with the cuffed sleeves and bronze buttons.  Sticking with the gray color scheme, I went with a zig zag t-shirt that has cranberry, olive green, and black all in it. This T is from GAP. To add a little pop, I wore a long beaded white necklace.  Amongst the beads there are crystal and gold beads for accent.  Believe it or not, the necklace I was rockin' today came from my 90 year old Nana's jewelry box, vintage I guess :)

Hope you like the look!

Colorful Layers & My New Ride!

I'm back!  Sorry I haven't had a chance to write, just a little crazy in my life! :)
I wanted to keep it short and sweet tonight, but here is the focus of my look today!  My shirt was plain white, it has pretty layered and ruffled details but needed some color.  The perfect touch to a simple or plain shirt is a piece of Jewelry.  I chose a layered colorful necklace that had dimension.  You could also go with snazzy earrings to add to a simple look.  This piece was a great find, can you guess where I got it??

American Eagle!!  Next time you're walking by it in the mall take a spin through the jewelry.  They always have really cute stuff and great prices :)

I had to show my new ride - pretty stylish huh?? I LOVE it!
Pretty funny story...
I put a deposit down on a Honda Accord Coupe and went home to unpack my car (2009 Mini) and I just couldn't do it.  When we were walking off the Honda lot, my dad said "well that's a big girl car,"  I think that must of stuck with me because the next morning I called Honda and cancelled the deal.  Next phone call was to Mini and yesterday afternoon I was back where I belong!  Just wasn't ready for the big girl car, I still need sporty and excitement!  Any thoughts on a name?? I'm thinking she might be the new Jezzy :)
