Blue and Tan for Friday

TGIF!  What a LONG week!  This morning was one of those days I literally tried on 10 different things, "no... no... no... no... finally!"  I started with a blue over-sizd sweater I recently got at Marshalls (on clearance of course) and a fitted white T underneath.  The cut of the sweater is short in the front but longer in the back so you need something for a bottom layer.  It was a great find, $15.00 in the clearance racks!  I really like the color and the style of the sleeves.  The sleeve itself is quite puffy and oversized, but the cool part is the cuff, its tighter so you can push it up your arm to make a cute balloon style sleeve.  Originally I had this sweater on with navy corduroys and boots but when I looked in the mirror I new something wasn't right. With the basicness (my own word) of the sweater, the corduroys were dressing it down too much, too casual for my office.  To contrast the blue, I knew tan would look good so I went with a pair of my tan dress pants.  (To be honest, I thought of going with them from the beginning but I knew they needed ironing and I just didn't feel like it - should of just went with my gut from the beginning ha)!

For jewelry, I went with gold because it went goes really nice with the blue.  Of course I wore my chunky gold watch and bangles to match.  For a necklace I went with a piece that has ivory colored large beads and small gold beads between each one.  I love this piece because the chain is so simple but the beads on your shirt are an attention getter.

Take a breather, its friday!

Change out the bottom for the night time look! :)

Gray tones and a tulip

Since its been so cold the last couple of days I decided to pull the corduroys back out - not too happy about it.  The first thing I chose to wear was this tulip colored ruffle button down, well pull-over in this case.  Like I said the other day, when I'm layering a sweater or some type of blazer I like to add some width to the look so ruffles do the trick.  I picked this shirt up at Ann Taylor Loft on the sale wall - pretty sure it was something like $9.99.  It was something I saw and knew I could get a lot of use out of it.  Over the shirt, I wore one of my favorite sweaters, I love the large collar and flaps down the front.  This piece is made by Inc. - a Macy's brand. Sticking with the gray, I went with my gray skinny corduroys and trusty black leather slouch boots.  For some shine I wore a silver necklace that has some pearls and diamonds.  Its nothing too chunky but definitely carries some weight.

Tip: Pick a colored shirt and go with plain colors around it.  When I look at my outfit, I see a gray palette with a touch of purple, I don't know why but I think of a tulip :)

Looking forward to the weekend, its almost here!

water.org

I hope you don't mind too much, but I decided no clothes for tonight, something else, something that's important to me...

I won't get into the details too much but there are BIG problems with water in developing countries and you can be the difference.  Every year, 3.575 million people die from water related diseases and we can help change this.  I've wanted a water bottle for awhile now and instead of picking up something simple at the store I decided to get one from water.org.  Not only did I get a pretty cool water bottle, but I'm helping a cause that's saving millions.  The bottle itself is $25 and $10 goes towards helping people get clean water.

Bonus it has a filter system and awesome design!  Help start a trend, maybe you need a new one or want to make the switch from bottled water? Choose water.org and make an impact.

Blazer and Blouse

Today was a blazer and blouse kind of day.  I had two events after work so I stepped up my look a little bit.  This morning when I was getting dressed I knew exactly what shirt I wanted to wear - a white Tahari blouse that has ruffles down the front and cute details on the shoulders.  For a blazer, I chose a light gray linen and when you look closely you'll notice charcoal and white tweed.  When I'm wearing a blazer I like to wear blouses with ruffles or something on the front to add dimension.  A blazer is very smooth and flat so the blouse gives it a little more oomph :).  For bottoms I went with one of my favorite black dress plants, Editor edition from Express that are wide leg.

For Jewelry, I went with my simple long silver fleur de lis necklace.  With the delicate material and ruffles on my shirt I didn't want to clash with a heavy/chunky necklace.  I decided to sport my black diamond wrap watch, that was enough on its own.  My shoes weren't crazy, black ankle boots that have 3 buckles for some style.  Being so cold, the last thing I wanted was my feet hanging out!

My favorite part of my outfit was the headband.  Overall, my outfit was simple and stayed on the black and white scheme.  To snaz it up a bit, I chose a black beaded headband and pulled my hair back into a ponytail.  Like I said before, some days I just don't feel like having my hair in my face and headbands are the trick!
Quote I heard today: Plan the work - Work the plan... stuck with me.  What'd you hear today that stuck?

Monday... check.

Back home after a long day, I wanted to get tonights post up earlier than usual for you to take a peak at.  BTW the feather necklace from today was a huge hit, scroll down if you missed it.

This look is for spring, but I think its time to pull it out.  Sheer blouses are all over the place right now so make sure you get some in your closet.  I picked up this one at Marshalls, $16.99!  While its mostly tan, I love the floral pattern all over it - subtle but adds some color!  I'm obsessed with the back, isn't the extra detail hanging over the shoulders and back so cute?!  I have to admit, thats what sold me.  With this color scheme I think gold goes best so I have paired a crossbody purse with it, the olive green color nicely compliments the shirt.  For jewelry I'm going to stick with gold and go with a layered piece.  I like to add layered necklaces to shirts like this to add dimension.  I'm sure I'll be sporting my chunky gold watch and some bangles to match.

It was FREEZING today so I think I'm going to pull out skinny pants and throw boots back on for tomorrow.  Either a brown or tan boot would be perfect with this outfit.

Tip: Add sheer to your wardrobe.

Comfy for a looong Monday! Layers

First off I want to welcome our new Jezzy audience's - we have readers from 10 countries!  Keep coming back, Jezzy has a lot to share!

I had a lazy sunday, it did include the gym though!  I just checked out the 6-day on my phone... depressing - spring days please come back!  Monday's are always really long for me, work all day, meeting with students and then class (yes I'm back in school, good times).  Considering what my day will look like tomorrow, I want to look appropriate for work but still comfortable.

I chose a layered look for the top.  I can NEVER have enough basic white t's.  Whether they are fitted or loose I can't leave them in the store when I see a good one.  The one for tomorrow is a recent Marshalls find, $7.99 - nothing like a new crisp white T :).  I'm layering over a gray short sweater that has 3/4 length sleeves.  I'm pairing the white t with it because of how short it is in the front.  I found this sweater in the clearance racks at Marshalls and knew I could do a lot with it.  For a necklace, I'm either wearing a long crystal pendant or something short and colorful.  For bottoms I'm going with simple black bootcut pants and black heels.

Wait a minute, nope I'm definitely wearing this feather necklace tomorrow!  I bought it so long and haven't even worn it yet.  I think it might have even been around Thanksgiving.

Tip: If love something when you're shopping but don't know what to wear it with, just get it and you'll find something.  Look at the feather necklace, I had no idea what I was wearing with it.

Hope everyone has a great Monday, I'll be back tomorrow night.

I still had 3 minutes!

I had a family night with my mom, aunt, and cousin while we did some bargain hunting. Have you heard of Switch Flops?? I was always skeptical too when I first heard of them but now I'm a fan and owner of several pairs.

You can find them in many boutiques but i picked up my pairs in a local overstock store. Usually, the shoes themselves go for about $40, while I picked up a pair for $10. The fun part of these flops are the straps. Change the look of your flops to match any outfit. They have all kinds of designs, everything from basic and plain to dazzley and bright! The straps normally go for about $16, I picked up mine for $3! It felt like a treasure hunt, all of the straps were in a huge bin, and there I was fishing through. We were actually there right before closing when they literally started kicking us out. I only needed a few more minutes to look through the bin but they wanted to close up the store.  When I walked out the door I noticed they were closing up early and I really did have 3 more minutes on the clock till 9pm. Their loss, could have gotten more $$ from me.

Oh and check out my cute little flats, you can switch out the bow!  I didn't really have a chance to look at the clips that went on these, but I picked out a hot pink bow!

Take a peak at my finds! You need to get yourself a pair!

Life is short. Buy the shoes.

I went all out today, I knew it was going to be one of the last days to pretend it was summer. I decided last night that I was going to wear one of my new fashion finds - amazing leopard wedge heels, have to mention they were another $22 find! When I wear shoes that are this busy I always go with solids on the top. I want your eye to go straight to the shoes.

For clothes, I chose a high waisted tan pencil skirt and another fashion find from yesterday, a sleeveless black slit neck blouse.  It also has 2 cute pockets on the chest.  It's a little too early to wear sleeveless so I added one of my cotton black blazers that has gathered sleeves. I didn't want to fight with the shoes so I went with a necklace that blended in and my gold watch and bangles to go with the look.  I have to mention the picture below is curiosity of Bridget Reilly - great photographer!

What a nice Friday night, check out my view from above the East Greenwich, RI harbor!

Lucky number 22, that is $22.00!

Today's weather was top notch, so beautiful!  I hate to say it but I just took a peak at the 5-day and I saw 47 degrees somewhere in there next week... ugh!  I guess we have to take what we can get for now.  After my doctor's appointment this afternoon I went on a treasure hunt with my mom.  I decided I need a mannequin for Jezzy's.  Sometimes I struggle trying to display my looks for you so I thought a mannequin would be fun and hopefully make it easier.  Well, after 5 consignment/antique stores and a Salvation Army, we started to get discouraged... UNTIL we called Auntie.  Apparently she had seen some in the Marshalls near her and insisted we stop on the way home.  Mom and I made a deal in the car to take a look around the shoes(how can you not) but not try on anything... I bet you can guess how that worked out!  Sure enough, we walked to the back of the store and there were 2 iron mannequins looking at us!  Not only did I find a full size mannequin, but I picked up a really cute smaller one to display my accessories!  Check them out in the picture, Jezzy's newest additions!

All I have to say about Marshalls right now is - Make time to get in there!  Every time I go in the store I'm known for trying on literally a carriage full of stuff.  Usually I leave with 2 or 3 things, but I always have to try on a bunch.  This trip was different, it was dangerous!  I swear, almost everything I put on I LOVED!  They must have just gotten new stuff in, they are loaded with spring tops that just make you want to smile!  While you're there, make sure to take a stroll in the clearance, they are really marking down their winter stuff and you can pick up some great deals that aren't necessarily just for winter.  I found the amazing boots to the left, all leather and great style for $22.00 (the 6th clearance sticker), now is the time to pick of some things for next year!!  When I'm flipping through the racks I always look for basics, over-sized t-shirts, shirts that are longer to wear with leggings, and usually plain things to dress up with accessories.  I'm only going to share two of my finds tonight, the boots above and...

A tan Vineyard Vines trench - with hood I must add, I love that feature.  Nothing worse than rain on the way into work and nothing to cover your hair, terrible way to start off the day.  There was a original tag on the jacket for $198.00, I got it at Marshalls for $79.99!  I normally wouldn't buy something with a price tag this high but I know I'll get my use out of it and honestly just fell in love with how it looks.  Sometimes you have to spring for the pricey item, especially if you know you're going to get a lot of wear out it of!  This was a good deal, not a great deal but everything else I bought was a great deal so it all balances out.

Tonight I went a little longer, I had a lot to share!  My mom and I had so much fun this afternoon, maybe too much :).  To finish, here's my look from today.  I know last night I forcasted a dress for today, but I woke up and today just wasn't the day.  Instead I chose another skirt, this one army green and black tiger stripped (subtle though).  I wore an off white T, that had heather gray in it.  Over the arms I added my short sleeve black sweater.  For a necklace I wore one of my favorite knotted gold pieces.  To finish the look, I pulled my hair back and wore zippered flower headband.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining but where did the week go.  Happy almost Friday!

Dressed for summer... Maybe I'm pushing it!

I can't believe how nice the weather has been, you might think it was summer!  The lawns all over campus were covered with students taking in the nice weather, those were the days of Castlebar beach (literally the 10x10 patch of grass in front of my off campus house senior year).  Enough reminiscing for now, lets get onto my look for today...

I knew the weather was going to be gorgeous and WARM, so I definitely wanted to wear a skirt.  The one I chose was a rose colored satin layered skirt.  Its the perfect length and real versatile for different looks.  Today I paired it with a tighter black t-shirt that I tucked in and wore a simple black short sleeve sweater over it.  The sweater is perfect to finish a look, I really like the zipper it has in the front.  I toyed between two necklaces this morning, the one I ended up choosing and a white and gold beaded piece.  Both were long, but I ended up going with the brushed gold locket.  I thought it blended better with the look instead of standing out.  This necklace was one of my finds at Domain in Providence - $7.50 I believe... You really cannot beat it!

Tomorrows going to be even nicer than today, probably the best day of the week.  I've heard 85 degrees - in March, ahhhhh, I'll take it!

The look.

Another beautiful day!

I can really get used to this weather for March, what a great start to the first day of spring!  Did you see the forecast for the weekend - at least in little RI, have to specify now that our blog readers have expanded to Canada!! - rainy and 50's, guess you have to enjoy it now!  I had to take an unexpected trip to the dentist this afternoon, about an hour drive but I can't complain.  I had the sunroof wide open and beautiful sunny skies beating down!

So onto the outfit of the day.  I chose something a little casual but dressed it up with boots and a necklace.  You'll find that you can get a lot more out of your closet if you change it up with accessories.  I love this dress because its simple and practical.  It's color scheme is gray, and has an accent of black and white on the sides.  I love dresses that have pockets, for both the style and being able to throw my cell phone or license in (yes, I get carded everywhere) when I'm out.  Besides the dress I wore black leggings and still threw on my black slouch boots (even though its pushing 70 degrees).  With such a plain top I wanted a necklace that carried some weight.  You'll see I chose a silver long necklace that has both pearls and diamonds on it.  I LOVE this piece.  I bought it from my co-worker last year, she sells some pretty cool pieces!  It was well worth it - I wear it all the time!

We're over the winter hump, spring has finally arrived!

Color for 70 degrees!

First off, happy St. Joseph's Day from an Italian girl! I hope you made it outside today, gorgeous!  I had meetings all day with students so I spent a lot of time walking from building to building, can't complain though.  Today I picked out one of my new tops from Marshalls, I think it was a $14.99 deal, bright and colorful!  Not to mention it was St. Joseph's Day - had to make sure to throw in a little red.  This shirt has a great neck line and a cute bow near the chest.  As you can see, I threw a gray shawl/sweater over it to make it more seasonally and work appropriate.

I've been picking this delicate silver necklace out a lot, it goes with everything!  Best part - it was a $4.00 find at Domain... like it even better!

For shoes I just wore classic Nine West heels, one of my go-tos.

How good do these look...
mmm mmm zeppoles!

My go for a green outfit - I tried!

Well I don't have really anything thats green so I tried to improvise with accessories!  I went with a basic white T and added a scarf with a funky pattern - as close to green as I could get.  If you looked closely, I wore one of my new necklaces from Domain - pretty awesome, and it had some green in it too!  When I saw this piece I had to get it, its a long pendant necklace with a peacock feather.  I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend, the weather was gorgeous!  I spent my Sunday laying outside in the hammock, yes thats right, I pulled it out of the garage today!  It could of sworn it was May out there!

Here we are again, kicking off another week...

Providence's secret gem....

I haven't been since Christmas but today I went to my favorite jewelry spot in Providence! It hasn't changed, almost all of the earrings are $3 and pretty much everything else is under $10!  Every time I go, I swear they are putting new stuff out the whole time I'm there.  As soon as you walk in the door you get the treasury hunt feeling - girls, I know you understand this! Its the perfect place to kill your lunch break on a Friday afternoon, as they are only open on Thursdays and Fridays and occasional Saturdays.  Today we were able to hang out with the owner herself while we made the rounds from room to room.  She pulls off some pretty cool statement pieces including the funky bracelet below!  I know I've been holding out on you, but here it is, the store that you MUST take advantage of!  I am literally obsessed, how can you not be when there are so many great finds at amazing prices.  She makes having a collection of fashion pieces affordable!

SO - Write this down and put it on your to do list - its a must!
